Introducing My Trusty Sidekick 🐾

I think it’s about time I introduce you to someone very important in my life… Sir Kit Kat.

Now here’s the funny part. I didn’t even want a pet. My daughter Nicole and my granddaughter brought him over one day to see if I would take him, and I remember thinking, “nope… not happening.”

And then I saw him.

And that was it.

Love at first sight.

Funny how life works sometimes, right?

What makes him so special to me is honestly hard to put into words. Part of it is where he came from, and that will always mean something to me, but it’s also just who he is.

He’s always there.

Even on the days I don’t realize I need him… somehow he knows.

And his personality? Oh my gosh.

Sometimes I just sit and watch him like he’s my own personal TV show, and I’m not even kidding.

He’s a really funny cat. When he’s had his little “nip,” he chases spots on the floor like they’re real. You would have to see it to understand how funny it actually is. And then there’s the patio door… if I don’t let him out, he will run from one end of the apartment, build up speed, and literally drop kick the glass with his back legs.

I wish I was exaggerating.

I’m not.

He’s also pretty smart. He can sit, shake a paw, sit pretty, and we’re working on lay down and a few other tricks. Yes… my cat does tricks. I didn’t see that coming either.

But the best part about him isn’t the funny stuff.

It’s how he shows up when I need him.

If I’ve been working too long or getting too focused, he’ll start mewing at me or trying to get my attention like he’s saying, “okay… that’s enough now.” And honestly, he’s usually right.

When I need comfort, he’s there too.

Falling asleep with him purring beside me is one of the most calming things, and waking up to him still there in the same spot, with my arm over him… it just makes everything feel a little more okay.

Our days together are pretty simple, and I think that’s part of what I love most.

We spend some quiet time together in the morning before I start my day, then I get into my routine and he does his own thing. But after dinner… that’s when it gets entertaining.

That’s when the treats come out, the “nip” kicks in, and I just sit back and enjoy my nightly show.

Has he changed my life in some big dramatic way?

Honestly… not really.

Except for one thing.

I hate leaving him. 😄

Other than that, he just fits into my life in the best way. Little moments here and there… stopping for pets, a bit of playtime, a few treats… and somehow those small moments end up meaning everything.

One of my favorite things he does is when he’s sitting in his cat tree and I walk by, he reaches out with his paw and gives a little “mew.”

That’s it.

I’m done.

My heart melts every single time, and whatever stress I had just kind of disappears with it.

If he could talk, I’m pretty sure the first thing he would say is “more treats.” And the second thing would probably be that I’m a little crazy… which honestly wouldn’t be wrong.

I call him my sidekick because he literally follows me everywhere. Kitchen, bathroom, front door… wherever I am, he’s not far behind. It’s like having a tiny, fluffy shadow.

And there’s something animals bring into our lives that’s really hard to explain unless you’ve experienced it.

Calm.

Pure love.

Gentleness.

Trust.

No expectations, no judgment… just presence.

Sir Kit Kat may just be a cat…

But to me, he’s family.

And honestly… CEO of Emotional Support fits him perfectly. 🐾

So now I’m curious about you.

Do you have a little sidekick in your life? A pet or even a person who just seems to be there when you need them most?

I’d love to hear about them.

Share in the comments and join the conversation.

And if this made you smile, feel free to share it with someone who loves their furry sidekick just as much.

Thank you for being here and being part of this community.
