๐ŸŽ August Reset: What Happens When You Give Yourself Permission to Start Again?

Well here we are, the last day of August! Where the heck did that month go? ๐Ÿ˜‚ When I look back at August, I can honestly say I feel like there was a little shift in me. I started opening my home up to my new friends I’ve made and to some of the old ones too, and it feels great to let people back in! I know I have changed. Like there was a small shift in me, and I didn’t really expect it to be as easy as it was to start having friends over again.

I think my home was a big part of that. When we started this month talking about resetting our home, kitchen, health and mind, I didn’t realize how much starting with my home would affect everything else. I’ve been slowly decluttering and it feels amazing! I’m not trying to do everything at once, I’m just working on things little by little and making my home feel more like the calm and peaceful space I want it to be. Of course, I did try to rearrange my living room by myself… bahahaha! That never goes as planned! ๐Ÿ˜‚

But probably the biggest surprise for me this month was realizing that it was actually easier than I expected to start having friends over again. I really didn’t know how I was going to feel about it, but I enjoyed it! And I want to keep doing it. I want to keep letting people in and try to stop being such a recluse. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I have an amazing supportive circle that keeps growing, and I’m really grateful for the people who support me and care about me.

And of course, Sir KK is completely on board with this new development because he’s getting all the attention! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿพ If he were giving me my official August report card, I’d get an A+++ for having people over. I’m pretty sure his only complaint would be that there aren’t enough people coming over often enough for him to get even MORE attention. That’s my boy!

August definitely had its ups and downs, especially with my health, but I still came out on the best side! I think that’s what I want to carry with me into September. Letting people in, trying not to hide away, and continuing to build the life I’m creating here. I don’t need to suddenly become the most social person in the world, but I do want to keep opening that door a little more.

And now we’re heading into September, and I know this month is going to be a harder one for me. September 7 is Nicole’s angelversary, and I know there are going to be some difficult days. I’m one that shuts down when things get hard, and I’m really hoping and trying to stop from shutting down this year. I have an amazing supportive circle around me, and that circle keeps growing, and I know I don’t have to go through those days completely alone.

When I’m missing Nicole, honestly, talking about her helps. Even through the tears, talking about my sweet girl always helps. I miss her more and more every day, but talking about her, remembering her and keeping her part of my life is important to me.

When the grief gets loud, I want to remember that I can get through this. It will pass. Life gets hard. My sweet girl is always with me. ๐Ÿ’œ

I don’t know exactly what September is going to look like, and I’m not going to pretend I have it all figured out. I just want to give myself permission to grieve and feel when I need to instead of shutting down and trying to push everything away. I can have hard days and still have good days. I can miss my girl and still laugh. I can cry and still keep going. I can feel all the feels and still love myself through them.

And maybe that’s what this whole August Reset has really been about for me. Not becoming a completely different person or fixing everything in my life, but making little changes and seeing what happens. Resetting my home helped me start opening my home. Opening my home helped me start letting people back in. Learning to pace myself helped me take better care of myself. And changing the way I approach my days has helped me see that I really can make things a little better, one little step at a time.

So goodbye August. ๐Ÿ’œ You were definitely full of ups and downs, but you also brought me something I didn’t expect… a little shift in me.

I’m going into September trying to keep that shift going. I’m going to keep letting people in, keep working on myself, and when the hard days come, I’m going to try to let myself feel them instead of shutting down.

We all just need to keep pushing through the best we can. Some days are going to be easier than others, and that’s okay.

Feel the feels and love ourselves! ๐Ÿ’œ

And if August taught me anything, it’s that a reset doesn’t mean starting your entire life over. Sometimes it just means making a few little changes, opening a door you thought you’d closed, and giving yourself permission to see what happens next.

So here’s to September. โ˜•๐Ÿ’œ I don’t know exactly what you’re bringing me, but I’m going to take you one day at a time.

And now I want to hear from you…

As August comes to an end and you head into September, what is one thing you want to leave behind and one thing you want to take with you?

Until next time, grab your coffee, take a breath, and remember that you don’t have to have everything figured out. Take it one day at a time, feel the feels, love yourself, and keep going the best you can.

Love Always,
โ˜•๐Ÿ’œ Shelly
